For the first time in living memory (and Maurice & Peter were there when it all started in 1958) the CX Gentlemen defeated the village at both cricket and skittles. Charles was comprehensively out-foxed by Prof. Barton with only the minimum of cheating and Dr Treweeke  proved too good for Mike. We can only hope that honour is restored in September when the Youngsters are down,Â

Well, to be honest, it did not feel much like Summer at Hayne last night. It looked idyllic, but with a wind chill of about -17oC it was not a night for catching. Brent once again proved to be a useless tosser and so Nomads batted first making a respectable 111 in their 20 overs. Fielding was below even our usual standard with comic drops and mis-fields from all but Peter. Special mention must go to Flash who took 3 for 19, only just shy of his career best. Variety, keeping the batsmen guessing is the essence of death bowling and nobody does it quite like Flash.Â
Jem took the honours with the bat, retiring on 32 after only 9 scoring shots supported well by Grant (23) and Mike (17) and despite Charles playing out a maiden in the 15th over John sealed a relatively comfortable win with a lovely lofted on-drive. Â
